About The Event
The Slate wants your voice to reform public safety!
Three longtime community organizers running for the 24th District ECPS Council (EdVetté W. Jones, Rev. Dr. Marilyn Pagán-Banks, Veronica I. Arreola) are combining forces to ensure that community voices are reflected in public safety plans.
The ECPS council is the most progressive community-led police accountability device in the country and it is important to elect the most progressive voices possible. The Slate has worked with youth groups and faith-based organizations, fed the community through fundraising and food drives, and organized a town hall at the onset of the pandemic to share resources and bring together voices in the community.
This is a grassroots campaign working to change the way policing is done in our city. We have a lot of work ahead of us that requires people and money power.
Come to Jarvis Square (1502 W Jarvis Ave) on Saturday, October 15th from 2:30pm-5:30pm and learn about:
- How the newly created positions work to hold police accountable
- How the community has a voice in public safety
- What you can do to help
